After 10 US #1's and two national records in 2017, the nation's best invitational just keeps getting better. This includes the great news that world record holders, national record holders, and two Jamaican squads are already entered in the 2017 installment. Highlighting the action and chasing even more national records is Florida sensation Tyrese Cooper who will highlight special AAU sections of the 300 and 500m dashes.*
It won't be all about the sprints though as Loudoun Valley is coming down and now with Sam Affolder in their ranks they could be the deadliest DMR our nation has ever seen. Last year's DMR's saw national records and both US #1's fall so they will have a big act to follow and certainly the competition to push them there.
In other relays... The Bullis School, Nansemond River, Western Branch, and many others are also entering and ready to make this the most competitive and fastest relay meet in the entire nation this year for both boys and girls.
Finally in the field events it looks like multiple state records for multiple states will be on the chopping block as well. Alexis Clark, Kenya Livingston, and many other big names will highlight the action there.
Athletes from NY, NJ, PA, MD, DC, NC, VA, and Jamaica are already entered in what will once again be the best meet before nationals in the entire nation. Remember, these are just the early entries and we expect even more US #1 returners to start signing up in the coming weeks now that the XC season is winding down.
*These special 300, 500, & 800m AAU Invitationals are counted as a separate meet and by invitation only. These are separate from the regular competition and will/cannot count towards start qualifying marks. Athletes competing in one of these events will be unable to compete in any other event for that calendar day per NFHS rules. This new division has been setup to allow athletes without indoor track or athletes who are homeschooled a chance to compete in a national caliber invitational.
