Lights, Camera, Action... It's Time For Jahnelle Saunders To Shine!

Phoebus's (VA) super freshman Jahnelle Saunders made her debut in high school competition this weekend and it was everything we could have wanted! She took home the Real Deal Classic title in the high jump with an impressive 5-foot, 2-inch clearance.

Check out Jahnelle's Athlete Profile

Though that clearance would be special to 99-percent of athletes, it was nothing special for Saunders -- aka Wonder Woman -- who was not too happy with her execution Friday night. She owns a personal best of 5-7 (outdoors) and 5-4 (indoors) in the high jump, so she is hungry for some more chances to really get her mark higher.

On top of that performance she also previewed some of the goals she is shooting for this season, one of them being a 20 foot-plus long jump. She currently holds a personal best of 19-3 in the event, and with better competition will hope to push closer to that mark. Her 19-3 would rank 31st all-time in Virginia if she were to equal it this season.

Any mark over 20 feet would rank her seventh or better all-time in Virginia. She also has gone 36-11 in the triple jump.

Finally, she will also be chasing some quick times in the 55m hurdles. Her current 100mH time tells us to expect big things this season -- considering it's a 14.20 second effort from the eighth grade! She has a real shot this year at chasing some quick times and potentially breaking eight seconds as a freshman in the 55mH.
