Classification Athletes of The Year


6A Athlete of The Year

Adriana Shockley (Western Branch)


Adriana successfully defended her 500m title this indoor season and moved into the top 10 all-time in that event. She ran the 400 leg on the national champion SMR and also ran on the VA #3 all-time 4x400m relay at nationals. 


5A Athlete of The Year

Kori Carter (Nansemond River)


Kori has another very successful year. She won the 55 and 55mH state titles and scored in numerous other events. She moved up the all-time list in the 55mH and 300m dash as well to go along with her state record in the 4x200m relay and national record in the mixed 4x400m relay. 


4A Athlete of The Year

Kaitlynn Wolfe (Blacksburg)


Kaitlynn yet again showed her range this year. She won state titles in the 1600 and 3200 and also finished inside the top 10 nationally in the 5K. She simply dominated the 4A classification. 


3A Athlete of The Year

Jahnelle Saunders (Phoebus)


Jahnelle is one of the two biggest freshman stars in the state. She tallied up a monstrous amount of points at states and is quickly becoming so good that she could win a team title by herself. 


2A Athlete of The Year

Mary Caroline-Heinen (Maggie Walker)


MC has been unstoppable all year. Though some athletes may have scored more points at states, she was by far the most dominating athlete at states this year. She helped Maggie Walker win three different events and also went on to win a USATF title this post-season. 


VISAA Athlete of The Year

Harrison Rice (St. Chris)


Harrison vaulted 16-2 this indoor season. He took down an impressive VISAA State Meet Record and moved up the all-time list to the top five all-time.
