Sierra Fletcher (Southeast Raleigh) was coming off her first individual state championship this indoor track season in the 55 meter hurdles where she ran 8.02 winning the 4A State Championship.  Fletcher went on to run 8.53 in the 60 Meter Hurdles at NBIN, clocked at NC#11 All-Time Indoors through 55 meters in 7.93.

Fletcher was coming off a double 'win' at the Wake County Championship where she won the 100m Hurdles with ease in 14.65, then won the 300m Hurdles clearly, but the timing system didn't register and she didn't end up rerunning the heat.

Fletcher sat at NC#3 coming into the meet in the 100m Hurdles, but walked away with a big seasons best in the event clocking 14.03, faster than she ran prior to summer track all of 2017, and good for a new NC#1 mark and US#12.  Fletcher was very smooth over the hurdles making it look easy.

Fletcher then had to double back against Jessica Wright (Hillside) in the 300 Meter Hurdles.  Wright won the NCHSAA 4A State Championship over Fletcher a year ago and they've had some crazy battles throughout their careers.  Wright was out well leading over Fletcher through the 7th hurdle.  But Fletcher picked up speed down the homestretch and came out of the race with more momentum that she carried through the line to run 43.02, good for a new NC#1, US#8 and NC#14 All-Time Performance and overall PR.  Fletcher carried a PR of 43.48 in the 300 Hurdles last year.

Fletcher has been a star the last two years, but looking at her improvement over the course of the last two seasons and the form she's currently in we could see Fletcher take things to the next level really soon.  Luckily she'll see plenty of strong hurdlers within the state this season.
