Former MileStat and MileSplit photographer Ryan M Kelly has just been awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his shots of the events in Charlottesville last year. The category which he won was the Breaking New Photography.
Though his shots were definitely phenomenal, the real interesting part of this award was how and when he won it. After years of photography with Charlottesville's Daily Progress newspaper he had decided to follow his other passion, the brewing of beer. It was on his final day as a staff photographer that he snapped those infamous shots.
Ryan is looking forward to his new career and will occasionally pick that camera back up of course.
