Six Gold Watches For Team VA Girls at Penn Relays

Team Virginia, at least on the girls' side of things, took home a staggering six gold watches from the 124th Penn Relays' carnival. The only watches won in relay events were for the quartet from Western Branch. Their 4x100m relay team of Jazmine Tilmon, Shadajah Ballard, Jessica Tucker, and Na'Taja Ballard finished fourth overall and as the first American team in 45.46.

Also winning gold watches were Sydney Banks (Osbourn Park) and Alexis Clark (James Monroe).

Sydney won her gold watch in the high jump. She finished 4th overall clearing 5-7.25. Taylor Beard (John Handley) also cleared 5-7.25 but finished 8th due to tie-breaks.

Alexis won her gold watch finishing second, VA's highest finish, in the shot put with her launch of 47-1.5. The only other second place finisher for VA was Adriana Shockley (Western Branch) in the 400H where she ran a VA #1 59.10.

Also competing very well individually was Nyla Ward (T.C. Williams) who finished 5th overall with her long jump of 18-11.75.

Finishing up the relay competition for Championship races was West Springfield finishing 7th in the 4x800 with the team of Coleman, Stephens, Kappeler, and Marcucci. Their time of 9:11.84 is the fastest time in the state this season.

Western Branch closed out the VA competition with their 4th place finish in the 4x400 COA. The team of Shockley, Ballard, Keshaiyla Warren, and Ballard ran a blazing 3:41.85.
