VHSL 3A/4A State Track Meet Preview

4A Individual Stars to Watch

4A could seriously be the best classification in the entire state this year. You have the best sprinter (Cole Beck), distance runner (Theo Woods or Affolder or Bogucki), and the best hurdler (Emmanuel Waller). There are stars in nearly every race so here are the big names to keep an eye on this weekend.

Emmanuel Waller (E.C. Glass)

  • He leads the nation for 400H and is the indoor state champ for 300m... do the math, you're in for a show in that race.

Cole Beck (Blacksburg)

  • He was national runner-up last year in the 100 and if the wind and weather cooperates we could see a sub 10.30 performance from this VT commit.

Teamamtes Sam Affolder & Colton Bogucki (Loudoun Valley)

  • These are just two of a huge distance core at Valley. They will be fighting for individual glory while also chasing the clock in what could be their last time racing together. Expect fireworks.

Solomon Ghosh (Blacksburg)

  • This dude is a beast and is looking to potentially sweep the throws. His speciality is the discus where he has already launched it 180' this season.

Theo Woods (E.C. Glass)

  • He is the only guy that has been able to beat a Valley guy in it seems like forever. Indoors he won the 1K and outdoors he is trying to take home the 800!

Jaekob Vollbrecht (Courtland)

  • If you thought Solomon was the only beat in the ring you were misled. Vollbrecht's speciality is the shot but he can chuck both pretty far.

John Handley's Taylor Beard & Trey Causey

  • High jump aficionados get ready! This is probably the greatest jumping teammates we have ever seen and that is saying a lot!

Grace Boone (Pulaski)

  • Grace tried and almost won an insane indoor triple. Outdoors it will be different but still, she is the truth at and around 800m.

Jade Lane (E.C. Glass)

  • This Hilltopper is trying to reach the top this time around. She not only could win the triple jump but also blast a 40'+ mark. That is rarified air.
