Chris Weeks could be his team's leader next year or he could be their number 2-4. West Springfield will have a serious shot at the 6A title and Chris having a breakthrough season would be integral to their success.
During the track season this Spring we got a glimpse of his greatness ahead but he finished just shy of his goal. That could be a blessing in disguise though that pushes him hard during summer workouts to not only lead his team but to attempt to drop some serious time as well.
The Spartans of West Springfield finished third last year and return six of their seven. Sam Pritchard, Sean Stuck, and Chris all finished at states within four seconds of each other. That means with 12 seniors departing that they are ranked 10th, 13th, and 14th amongst 6A returners.
This XC season will be big for Chris though. He has the training partners who will certainly push him forward and the track speed that could be the difference. He has tasted what it feels like to be one of the top athletes in the state and we think he is in store for a big breakthrough this XC season.
Don't sleep on his teammates either who are certainly also in store for some big PR's this year.
