Hirata Sets Two State Records In One Day!

Stafford senior and multiple time state champion Gennifer Hirata set not one but two state records at the St. Chris Invitational. She ultimately cleared 13-6 to win the pole vault after also clearing 13-4 (a new state record) earlier in the competition.

The University of South Dakota commit did vault 13-3 earlier in the year but the height was not measured  for a record attempt. This time they left nothing to doubt measuring the height before and after each new height. Her 13-4 and 13-6 clearance bested Cameron Overstreet's 13-1.5 state record from 2011.

She now sits at US #2 and also as the greatest vaulter in VA history surpassing Lizzie Powell's outdoor record of 13-3 as well.
