#5 Girls 1600m Run
Saturday ~1:30pm
This race features a staggering eight state champions and a solid three ladies under the five minute barrier entering competition. The top seed being also the defending champion MC Heinen. She ran 4:51 a year ago and will be looking to go even faster.
The event record is 4:46 set by Kate Murphy and the top 10 all-time cutoff in VA is 4:47.41 so you can imagine that is the goal Saturday.
The race itself should see about five or seven girls battling it out through the first half with just a few girls in contention by the final bell. MC loves to kick hard so this race may be anyone's until the final 200m. MC is definitely the girl to beat but Hutchins is a wildcard and Stephens & Fetterolf are our dark horses for the win.
