Saturday Grace Boone cemented her name in history as one of the most versatile mid-distance runners ever. She also proved that she is a killer competitor as well with her insane 1600, 400, and 800 meter triple win at the VHSL Class 4 State Championships.
According to our findings in the VHSL record book, a triple like this had never before been achieved. Many athletes have tried and a few have been able to win two-thirds of the events but never has an athlete won all three until Grace on Saturday.
Grace started her day with the 1600m run. She was able to win that event by a solid four seconds with her 5:03 victory over Kaitlynn Wolfe. Next up with only the 4x1 relay between was the 400m dash where she ran 56.62 to win over freshman Kadence Williams. Finally she brought it home with her favorite event, the 800. She ran away late from 500m indoor state champion Joiner to win in 2:11. Bolen from Valley was second and Bowe from Midlo was fourth.
