Could Michaela Rose Win The 400mH National Title?

Just as we have seen other athletes trying new events and succeeding, Michaela Rose has been doing the same thing. Mostly known as a 800/400 athlete she has begun to broaden her events and compete in the 400mH. After just two tries at the event she ranks US No. 5 with her 59.25 season best.

Michaela also owns a 2:06 best 800 on the season and has also run 54 in the open 400.

Though she will definitely be focused again on the 800 at NBNO, this new event makes things very interesting. Interesting also because Athing Mu is not in the 400mH which gives Rose a serious shot at the national record.

Ahead of her in the event rankings are Britton Wilson (58.58), Brooke Jaworski (58.62), Vanessa Watson (58.97), and Leah Phillips (59.05). All of these girls ran those times at Penn in less-than-ideal conditions but had competition. Rose unfortunately had to solo her 59.25.

The difficult call though for all of these athletes will be choosing individual events or relays or choosing which one of their events they want to run. Out of the top five we know of four who will be potentially entered in multiple events. That should make for quite the competition if everyone decides to focus on the 400mH.
