There are rivalries everyone speaks about and then there are rivalries that no one speaks about but everyone knows about. That is the Western Albemarle and Albemarle rivalry. Most of the time the teams just worry about themselves and their own classification but deep down they want to beat the other badly. That means the two times they meet a year matter a lot.
Their first matchup will be the Ragged Mt. Cup which features a two-mile relay and the second matchup will be on the same Panorama Farms course at the Albemarle Invitational.
This invitational in October is going to be exciting a slugfest as both teams prepare for States. It should also be noted that both teams are also favored to win the team titles making this a real battle of champions.
