How To Qualify As A Team

To run in the VA Middle School XC State Championships as a team, teams must run in one of the following qualifier meets. These meets are: Knights Crossing (9/7), Pole Green XC Invitational (9/7), Fork Union Middle School Invitational (10/4), Titan Middle School Invitational (10/14), MileStat.com XC Invitational (10/19), and the Atlantic Coast Invitational (10/19).

Teams who run a full squad (i.e. five or more runners) in one of these meets are automatically qualified for the championships as a team.

How To Qualify As An Individual

To run in the VA Middle School XC State Championships as an individual (and not on a qualified team), individuals must rank inside the top 50 in the state for the 4K, top 30 in the state for 3K, top 25 in the state for 3200/Two Mile, OR top 25 in the state for 5K.

This will allow individuals who are unable to run a 4K during the season to qualify using multiple distances.

Rankings will be based on MileStat.com's state rankings at the time of registration closing.

    How To Sign-up & Run

To run in the VA Middle School XC State Championships both athletes and individuals must sign-up on the MileStat meet page prior to the October 20th midnight deadline. Teams will sign-up via their coach signing up the entire team while individuals can sign-up unattached or through a team page.

The cost of competition is $15 per competitor. This fee goes to allowing there to be free parking, no admission fee, race bibs,  live chip timing (w/ splits), awards, and medical staffing. This fee is due at the time of registration, athletes who have not been paid for will not be able to run or receive their race bib.

To Enter a Meet as an Individual:
When you click on the green button or bar to enter the meet, it will send you to a register or login in page if you have not logged in. If you do not have a MileSplit or state site username and password, you have to register. Once you receive that, login (top right corner), go to the meet page, click on the green enter online now button - then enter individual. It will identify you by name and email from your username. Add your contact phone numbers (for meet director's use only) and click enter individual. If you have not entered a meet using Milesplit before, it will then tell you "you have not claimed an athlete" and ask you to do a search for an athlete, add your name and search - if you do not find yourself, you may enter a new athlete and enter the meet. If you find your athlete you must click on their name, go to the profile page, and you must claim their page and await admin approval. Then when that arrives (usually the same day), you can enter the meet.
