WATCH: Kelsey Harrington Goes 17:13, VA #11 All-Time

Heading into this weekend's race we were expecting something fast, maybe even 18 minutes. Kelsey Harrington had something else in mind. She proved that and opened her race with a big statement over pre-race favorite Sasha Neglia of Tennessee.

After just 1K, Kelsey already had a 100m lead over Neglia and the field. That was surprising but not completely out of the realm of what we expected. By two miles though we were already shocked at what we were watching. She was not only only holding on to the lead but she was widening it as she powered home the final 800 meters.

She crushed the final 400 meters and crossed the line in 17:13. Neglia was second in 17:34 to help both of them dip under the previous meet record set by Libby Davidson.

Kelsey's time not only was a meet record but also a facility record, course record, small schools record, Class 2 state record, and VA #11 all-time.

That time bodes very well for Kelsey considering every single of the girls inside the top 26 has made either a Foot Locker or NXN team that year.
