Longest Streaks For Teams Making The State Meet

Here are the boys, girls, and school records for longest consecutive trips to the state XC championships.

Atop this list is just one team, that team is the Blacksburg girls' team who have made it to the state meet 38 years in a row or in percentage terms, 100%. They have made every single state meet since the first girls state XC meet in 1980, at Piedmont College. Their team is the only one to have an active streak spanning multiple courses. Their streak includes Piedmont, Virginia Tech, and Great Meadow which first hosted in 1994.

On the boys' side the current leader is Radford who just had their 17th consecutive trip to the state meet this past fall.

Combined there are four teams with very impressive streaks as schools as well. Radford has made every state meet since 2003 for both boys and girls, Blacksburg has done it since 2006, Mathews since 2007, and Midlothian from 2009-2019.

Thru every XC state meet in the current six class system Lake Braddock, Blacksburg, Western Albemarle, Maggie Walker, Radford, and Mathews have made the state meet for both teams in the same year.
