Snow In The Forecast For XC State Championships

Last year the NCAA XC championships got to see snow, this year might be VA's turn. In the current forecast, on Weather.com, it looks like both Salem and The Plains could see snow on the ground for the state championship races.

Here is the current forecast for the Plains, which looks worse than Salem.

The snow predicted right now is looking to be around 1-3 inches on Friday night with a few flurries Saturday until around noon. Salem is just predicted to receive around one inch.

The key thing to remember is that the temperature on the roads should remain above freezing and allow for teams and spectators to safely arrive at these meets. The meets will run in the snow, the only thing that would change that is if the snow sticks to the roads and causes delays or school cancellations.

Meet management and the league office are closely monitoring this forecast and will post updates and/or contingency plans the second they need to be made.
