The State Meet Records That Could Fall Saturday

This weekend there are quite a few records that we think could fall. Here are the records and streaks you should be watching.

State Meet Course Record

Obviously the Class 1,2,3 state meet records will be new but the Great Meadow course record could also fall. The current record is Kate Murphy's 17:08 and it is in danger of falling during the Class 6 girls race between Aniya Mosley and Bethany Graham.

Green Hill Park Course Records

Both of Green Hill Park's records could fall this weekend. First up will be Kelsey Harrington chasing her own course record and looking to run the second time under 17 in the actual state of Virginia in history. The boys' Class 3 race could also take down the course record of 15:06. Jack Eliason and Joe Hawkes could definitely come close to that barrier.

Total Number of Girls State Team Titles

Blacksburg leads the state all-time with 18 state team titles on the girls side and Lake Braddock is number two with 13. Those two spots won't change but right now in third is Clark County, Brentsville, and Western Albemarle. If Western is able to pull off the win in Class 3 they could stand alone at #3 all-time. Maggie Walker could join the list if they won, that would be their 6th all-time.

Looking For The Three-Peat

Just one athlete is looking for the three-peat this year and that athlete is Mary Caroline Heinen. She is going to face some tough competition now in Class 3 but if she runs the way she ran in October she will be fine.

Five For Valley and Auburn

Loudoun Valley boys are looking for their fifth consecutive team title this year, that would put them tied for second all-time behind John Handley and Maggie Walker's 6 in a row. Auburn high school is also looking for their fifth, they face a tough competitor in Parry McCluer though.
