Dan O'Brien came to San Diego with a lofty goal in mind and leaves having achieved that goal. He wanted to improve on last year's 12th place finish and this year finished 7th in 15:24.1 against the best competition in the entire nation.
He was the third finisher for the South team and his time ranks as VA's 13th fastest ever at Foot Locker Nationals and as VA's 7th fastest at Balboa Park.
This was quite the close to Dan O'Brien's high school XC career. He ends it with two Foot Locker All-American finishes, three state titles, and two state team titles.
