Michael Bourne Looking For Huge State Meet

It is not everyday an athlete qualifies for states in five individual events but that is the case with Cosby junior Michael Bourne this indoor season. He is entered in the long jump, high jump, 55m hurdles, 300m dash, and 500m dash in the Class 6 state meet.

Check out Michael Bourne's Athlete Profile & Stats

Michael enters the state meet after a huge regional meet and after finishing third a year ago down at Boo in the 55m hurdles. This year he could seriously win the title in that event and is seeded second with his 7.34 season best.

At regionals Bourne won the 55mH, won the 500m dash, finished second in the high jump, and was third in the long jump. With states following a similar schedule he should be able to add just one more event in there and not get too fatigued.

Though Bourne is slated to score around 20 points, based on the virtual meet, he could seriously score over 30 points if things swing in his favor in the jumps. Those events are notorious at the state meet for being close and coming down to tie-breakers. Especially the high jump.

Bourne will be fighting for MVP honors at this meet and could be battling with Austin Gallant of Battlefield for those honors, Gallant being entered in four individual events and a relay.
