Norfolk Academy's Head Coach Ken Lampert passed away Wednesday morning from health complications related to his stroke two weeks prior. He was the NA coach for 40 years and saw his teams win numerous state titles, team titles, and league championships as well.

He was a tried and true believer in making track a sport for everyone, no matter there ability level. He often hosted weekday track meets and cross country meets allowing athletes from all over the 757 to compete. Especially athletes who were unable to compete at other meets.

One of his biggest passions was as a meet director. He prided himself on running a meet quick and was one of the first individuals back in Boo Williams when it reopened this January. Most recently in 2019 he served as the meet director for the VISAA Outdoor State Championships. He was slated to hold the same post this upcoming outdoor season prior to the cancellation of the season.

His team finished 3rd in the girls competition at indoor states and 11th in the boys competition.
