While athletic travel budgets have been slashed by NCAA programs in the wake of the coronavirus and recruiting has taken a back seat, a rash of opportunity still does exist.

Schools are still searching for talent.

In replace of those limitations, programs must instead rely on a dose of intel from high school coaches and have an analytical eye on past results.

This week, a mutual agreement came together between Ashley Wallace and Syracuse University's women's track and field team, with the Bullis School (MD) senior signing with the Orange.

Wallace has long been a standout athlete with the Bulldogs, finding success in the hurdles, sprints and jumps over a four-year career.

Not only that, but Syracuse also saw the willingness of Wallace to step in on national-caliber relays and provide a boost where it was needed.

Wallace owns indoor personal bests of 7.84 in the 55mH and 8.59 in the 60mH, marks that ranked US No. 3 and US No. 11, respectively, in 2020.

She also was proficient in the sprints, posting times of 25.38 in the 200m and 40.41 in the 300m. As a junior, Wallace posted bests of 13.94 seconds in the 100mH and 37-8 in the triple jump.
