Powhatan's US #3 Greenhow Is Chasing His Coach's Records

Powhatan's Anthony Greenhow ended his indoor junior campaign ranked US #3 in the 300m dash for juniors. He ranked 3rd overall in the state as well with his 34.20 best from states where he finished second to state leader Matthew Spicer.

Greenhow and a few of his teammates are leading the way for what should be a turning point for Powhatan high school. A turning point that may see quite a few of their school records fall and potentially also see their first state champion since 2013 overall and their first boys title since 2008.

Anthony personally has been quite close to finally winning that first state title in the past year. Since last year he has finished 4th, 4th, 3rd, and 2nd at states. He has also set four school records between indoors and outdoors.

Though he has set some records thus far, he is still chasing the type of records his coach, Keilah Tyson set when she was in high school back in 2011. Two of those records still stand today as state records (100m dash and long jump).

Keilah is one of the greatest sprinter/jumpers VA has ever seen and was a coaching product of Western Branch's Claude 'Touks' Toukene. She joins quite a few of his athletes in fact to have gone on to coach and coach at a high level.

One of the best aspects of her being a coach is her ability to not only explain what to do and how to do it but she can actually show them. Though she does not race as much as she used to, she probably could still run sub 12 in the 100 and jump close to 19 feet.

Keilah is just one of an entire coaching staff (she oversees jumping and sprinting) and Anthony is just one of an entire team who are trying to foster a culture and tradition of winning at Powhatan high school. This Class 4 school is going to be one to watch not only in the sprints but overall as a program these next few years.
