Summertime Showcase & Outdoor Nationals Cancelled

The last scheduled track meet of what would have been the 2020 outdoor season has officially been cancelled. This move comes a day after UVA made a university-wide decision to not allow any non-academic (in-person) programs between July and mid-August. The meet was slated to take place July 10th.

This meet was a meet put together by multiple meet managers, timers, and officials from around the state to provide student-athletes and especially seniors a chance to chase one last PR or school record. Unfortunately this news follows the cancellation of the Outdoor Nationals as well.

All entry fees are being refunded for those who entered the Summertime Showcase and can be refunded by requesting money back or cancelling order on PayPal.

Statement from meet management:

"Things were really looking up these past few weeks and it seemed as though Virginia would move Phase 3 in time for the meet to happen. We had multiple state champions and many all-Americans entered in the competition, unfortunately though we could not pull it off. We thank everyone who helped spread the word about this event and make sure it did not affect any athlete's or team's eligibility. Ultimately, we would much rather be on the safer side of things and if UVA feels uncomfortable hosting an event, we do as well and will not look to reschedule or relocate the event. Hopefully this meet will never be back and that things will be back to normal sooner than we can think. Until then, we wish safe training, new PR's, and good-health for our entire track family."
