Julie Culley, a U.S. Olympian who starred in high school and college in New Jersey, resigned as Georgetown's Director of Cross-Country and Track & Field, the school announced in a press release on Wednesday night.
Culley, who had been at the helm of the program for the Hoyas for the past four years after serving as an assistant for two years, has taken a job with Brooks Running as a sports marketing manager, according to Dave Monti of Race Results Weekly.
During her tenure at Georgetown, Culley boasted 50 All-America honors in more than 10 different events. She has also coached the Hoyas to 36 BIG EAST Championships and four wins at the Penn Relays.
Culley, who starred at North Hunterdon High School and Rutgers University, won the 5,000-meter run at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials to earn a trip to the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she advanced to the final.
After starring at North Hunterdon High School, Culley put together a Hall of Fame career at Rutgers.
A three-time MVP of the cross country team and a two-time MVP of the track & field team at Rutgers, Culley earned All-America honors in cross country in 2002, and she was awarded the Headley Singer Award, given annually to one outstanding female RU student-athlete.
She was also named the NJAIAW Woman of the Year in 2003 and was the recipient of the 2003 David A. "Sonny" Werblin Award, given to a national level accomplished RU athlete. She was the NCAA Woman of the Year for the State of New Jersey in 2003, and she earned all-academic honors three times.
Culley was inducted into the 2016 Rutgers Hall of Fame.
Prior to coaching at Georgetown, Culley coached at American University (2007-2010), where she served as an assistant cross country and track & field coach, and prior to that she spent three years as the head women's track & field coach and the assistant cross country coach at Loyola University in Baltimore.
