Carroll sophomores Anna Hall and Dylan Fisher led their JV squads to huge team wins over the weekend
Justin Leonard's Carroll Dragons are in the midst of UIL 6A state meet title defense missions for both the girls and boys teams. It seems hard enough to win one championship let alone push for another; Leonard's program is trying to do that with both squads.
If that isn't challenging enough, try to add positioning themselves for wins next year and the year after at the same time
Anna Hall and her Southlake Carroll girls had the opportunity to watch the varsity girls take the Coach T Invitational win at Denton's North Lakes Park. The Varsity girls ran to a 18:59 team split and only a 38 second split against several of Texas' best teams.
That view led an inspired run for the JV girls who produced an impressive campaign of their own as they make cases to take the next step up to the varsity level.
Hall made a mid race move that earned her about a 20 second gap on second place. That move proved to be the difference as the pack closed over the last 1K of the race, but Hall's cushion was just too much. Winning by nearly eight seconds, Hall looks to be making a varsity level push for next season with her 20:12.86 win.
Hall's teammates also ran strong as they placed eight girls in the top 10, finishing with a 20:29 team average and a 29 second 1-5 split. There were three seniors in Carroll's top seven from yesterday's race and this is the way Carroll continues to be in contention for team championships each season.

Perfection
The Carroll JV Boys had a similar race, but they ended the day with a perfect score.
The front pack of the Coach T Invitational JV Boy's race looked like a SLC tempo run. After 1K, there were all Carroll jerseys in the front. One after one is how they ran and that's how they finished. The JV Dragons finished with six runners in the top 10 and more importantly 1-5 for the perfect 15 point win.
Fisher battled his teammates for the lead, but he took over just under a mile into the race and he never looked back. Instead, he increased his lead with every stride. Finishing with a 16:19 for the win, Fisher was followed by two freshman teammates Jude Alvarez (16:38) and Brady Golomb (16:48) joining him under 17 minutes.
If the perfect score wasn't impressive enough, the JV Boys of Carroll didn't settle for the win, they pushed the pedal to the medal going for a 16:49 team average and a 53 second 1-5 split.
That effort would rank them 61st this season on average for the 5,000m distance and their split would be 64% better than the teams who's average was better.
All eyes are on Southlake Carroll's UIL 6A state title defenses from last year, but Carroll is showing why they are in the position they are in every year.
