CJ Singleton Wins 2 Mile At VA Beach Opener

After a strong cross country season, CJ Singleton from Butler wasted little time establishing himself on the track. The junior won the 2 mile at this weekend's Virginia Beach Club Opener, held at the brand new VA Beach facility to open up his indoor season.

Singleton went 9:18.39 for the victory, catching the leader Arnav Tihke of Oakton (VA) late in the race and then taking a lead. He extended it from there to come home with the win. His time puts him at PA No. 12 all-time for the full 2 mile distance.

Singleton had a solid fall that included some high-profile wins at the Red, White & Blue Classic, TSTCA Championships, and the WPIAL Championships before placing sixth at the state meet. He was the highest placed non-senior in the AAA field.
