Day 2 Recap

* Steven Bell won his 2nd event, the boy's high jump. Bell of SE Raleigh cleared 6-06 which ties him for 7th in the nation - then won his 3rd event - boy's long jump with a jump of 21-09

 

* Olicia Sharp won the 55m dash in a time of 7.17 which ties her for 11th in the country

 

* NC athletes go 1-3 in the girls 300m dash. Wakefield's Ariah Graham and Olicia Sharp go 1,2 with times of 40.73 and 41.23 respectively. Dannielle Davis of SE Raleigh placed 3rd in 41.61. Ariah's time is the 11th fastest in the US while Olicia is now ranked 18th in the nation

 

* NC put 4 athletes in the top 6 of the boys 300m dash. Led by Demari Boswell of Ben L Smith who placed 2nd and Xavier Jones of Southern Guilford finished 3rd. Their times were 36.19 and 36.28 respectively.

 

* South Granville's Jazmen Flagler improved by 3 inches in the high jump to finish 3rd overall. She cleared 5-02

 

* David Riddleberger of Wakefield won the boy's 400m dash in 52.33

 

* Dannielle Davis of SE Raleigh improved her best time with a 8.24 to win the 55m hurdles. This is the 6th fastest time in the nation. Chantal Scott of Wakefield also finished in 3rd place with a time of 8.55

 

* Cardinal Gibbons placed 2 girls in the top 4 of the 1600m run. Sarah Rapp placed 2nd and Samiiah Wilson 4th. They ran 5:27.09 and 5:45.10

 

* Mitch Mallory of Wakefield continues to run well as he ran away from the field in the 3200m with a time of 9:44.19, winning by 30 seconds. This is the 11th fastest time in the US

 

* Ben L Smith's girls placed 4th and their boys placed 2nd in the 4x200m relays

 

* Wakefield's girls flew to a very fast time of 3:57.69 to win the 4x400 - this is the #1 time in the US

 

* Wakefield and Ben L Smith went 1,2 in the boy's 4x400 with times of 3:27.63 and 3:29.33. Wakefield's time is the 2nd fastest time in the US

 

Day 1 Recap

* Dannielle Davis of SE Raleigh ran 8.36 to qualify 1st for the next round in the 55mH. Danielle is currently ranked 8th in the US with a time of 8.27

 

* Also in the 55mH, Wakefield's Chantal Scott ran impressively. She ran 8.54 to qualify with the 2nd fastest time. Her time is currently the 21st fastest in the nation this year.

 

* Olicia Sharp of Wakefield ran 7.18 in the 55m dash to qualify for the next round with the 3rd fastest time. This moves her into the 11th spot in the US

 

* Ariah Graham of Wakefield ran 7.38 and Hillside's Desirhea Odom ran 7.45 to move on in the 55m as well

 

* In the girls 200m, Daneille Davis of SE Raleigh finished 3rd, running 26.19. This is the 8th fastest time in the nation

 

* Wakefield placed 2 girls in the top 3 of the 500m with Olivia Sharp placing 2nd and Michaela Birek taking 3rd. These two ran 1:20.83 and 1:21.48 respectively.

 

* Cardinal Gibbons' Samiiah Wilson took 2nd overall in the girl's 1000m with a time of 3:15.62

 

* Kendra Douglas of SE Raleigh placed 4th with a mark of 35-09.50 in the girl's triple jump

 

* Jason Covington of Wakefild qualified for the next round in the 55m dash with a time of 6.67

 

* Xavier Jones, a USATF age group national record holder, is running for Southern Guilford this year. This 9th grader placed 4th in the 200m dash with a time of 22.83. Watch out for this guy! Currently ranked 6th in the nation

 

* Wakefield goes 1, 2 in the boy's 500m dash. The race was won by Trip Foreman in 1:07.03 with Tye Smith taking 2nd in 1:08.39. These two are ranked 3rd and 8th in the US respectively.

 

* Ryan Czejkowski of Cardinal Gibbons placed 2nd in the boy's pole vault with a clearance of 12-06

 

* Southeast Raleigh's Steven Bell won the boy's triple jump with a 45-09 mark. This is the 8th best TJ in the US
