Oakton\'s Maline and Centreville\'s Barr romp fields

MANASSAS, VA -- Oakton senior Matt Maline blazed his own trails at the 2000 Glory Days Invitational as he won the boys race by a 20 second margin and ran the second fastest time ever of the 9 year old meet held on the challenging Bull Run National Park 5K course with his clocking of 15:24.

Robinson senior LA Snead ran a good race to finish 3rd overall with a time of 15:58, but that couldn\'t help the Robinson Rams from even challenging nationally ranked Good Counsel of Maryland who were able to place 3 runners in the top 15. Good Counsel finished with a team score of 64 points, which was almost twice as better than second place Robinson with 126 points.

The girls race was very exciting as Centreville freshmen Dacia Barr and Stonebridge\'s Chelsea Henderson battled it out. Barr started off fast building a 20 meter lead on the chase pack by the half mile mark. Soon Henderson emerged from the pack and challenged Barr. With a half mile to go, Barr had been caught by Henderson as they were running stride for stride by that point. But trying to catch up with Barr, took a lot out Henderson as she had nothing left at the end and Barr had just enough left to pull out the win, cross the line in 18:36.3 with Henderson just behind at 18:39.4.

The Potomac Falls girls took advantage of the fact that the James Robinson girls were missing 2 of their top runners as they scored 84 points, 10 points better than Robinson\'s 94.
