Penn Relays: Jamaican High School Preview

4x800m Relay Preview

The 4x800m relays are going to be the most up for grabs relays of the weekend. Jamaica certainly has the star-power to once again reign supreme but the top American teams (Union Catholic and St. John's) from last year will be tough to defeat.

In the boys race it is overall a wide-open field with William Knib and Edwin Allen jockeying for the top Jamaican spot. Both teams posses the speed to run sub 7:50 but this year that might not be enough for the title.

Defending Champions, Jamaica College returns one from last year's squad.

In the girls' competition things are going to be fast with Edwin Allen, Holmwood Technical, and Alphansus Davis all in contention.

Alphansus Davis  and Edwin Allen have teams capable over a 8:55 while Holmwood Technical likely has an 8:44 team.

The 4x800 is a non-traditional event in Jamaica and teams are limited to two entries per event at Champs so it is a hard event to estimate based on this little data.

Individual wise, Cindy Rose of Holmwood (2:10) and Joel Morgan (1:51) of Edwin Allen look to be the top Jamaican individuals who be running.
