Track and Field to Compete at Big South Championships

The VMI track and field teams will take part in the 2010 Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, with the first event set to begin Saturday at 10 a.m. in Clemson, S.C.The meet will then continue Sunday, with a scheduled start time of 1 p.m.

Start lists are currently available at the link above. In addition, live results will be provided at that same link, courtesy of CFPI Timing. Fans can also watch the event on the Big South Network for a small fee, and for the first time, interviews with the coaches are expected to be a part of the weekend's BSN coverage.

The Keydets come off a weekend where they sent a handful of athletes to Virginia Tech, and had a pair of notable performances. Felix Kitur posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 800-meters, an honor for which he earned the Big South Track Athlete of the Week award. Also, Kate Collins finished third in the pole vault, clearing 3.50 meters (11'5 3/4") to tie the school record in that event. Following the conference meet, the Keydets will travel to another championship event, as qualified athletes will take part in the IC4A/ECAC Championships in Boston, Mass. That event is scheduled for March 6 and 7.
