Women's XC Tabbed USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The VMI women's cross country team was one of 176 programs to receive All-Academic status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), as announced by the organization March 5.

In order to earn this honor, teams must both compete and accumulate a score at an NCAA Regional Championship, as well as possess a cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.0. The Keydets had a GPA of 3.3, while they followed up their runner-up effort at the Big South Championships by posting the program's best finish ever at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships, 21st place this past November. VMI is one of only three Big South institutions to earn this award, joining Coastal Carolina and Winthrop.

“The success the team had this year, both on the course and in the classroom, is a testament to the hard work these athletes put in,” said VMI head coach Paul Spangler. “This is a great accomplishment for the ladies, and I am very proud of them for achieving this.”
