Lake Braddock Secondary, Second to No One!

Lake Braddock Secondary School, if we were to use their full name for this special occasion, is back on top at the State meet following their stellar performance this weekend at Oatlands. They ultimately won the championship scoring a low 73 points head of West Potomac's 89 and Patriot's 93.

This win for Lake Braddock marks their fifth state team title, ranking them 8th all-time in the VHSL and 2nd amongst Class 6 schools.

If there was any team battle that was up for grabs it was the Class 6 boys. Not because there wasn't a dominant team but because there were and are so many solid teams that any one team could win. Ultimately though it was Lake Braddock taking down three ranked teams for the win.

Lake Braddock's scorers were (in order): Bradley Rockefeller (15th - 16:29), Grayson Richards (18th - 16:50), Matt Walters (21st - 16:59), Maverick Magruder (22nd - 17:01), Marek Manka (32nd - 17:18), Noah DeLuke (40th - 17:25), and Calvin Benson (50th - 17:40).

This group included four juniors, one sophomore (Magruder), one freshman (Walters), and one senior (Rockefeller).

You have to tip your hat to those athletes stepping up big on a tough day to bring the title home. We also need to mention Coach Jason Switzer and his assistants for their stellar job in preparing the team for this event. The season is a long one and with ups and downs so it is just that much more impressive when it all comes together.
