Virginia\'s Emily Harrison places eighth at 2005 USA Junior XC Championships

Cavalier first year earns alternate\'s slot to national team

VANCOUVER, WA -- Virginia first-year Emily Harrison, who earned All-ACC and All-Regional honors while advancing to the NCAA Championships in her first year as a collegiate runner in 2004, finished eighth at the USA Junior Women\'s National Championships, held in Vancouver, Wash. The first six athletes were named to the Junior National team that will compete in the 2005 World Championships in France.

Harrison ran a 22:27 on the 6K course, just 37 seconds behind the champion, Liz Pasciuto. During the 2004 collegiate cross country season, Harrison finished ninth in her first ACC Championships before taking sixth at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet, earning her a trip to the NCAA Championships.

Harrison currently ranks in the top-10 in the ACC in the 3000m run.
