NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk State University Athletics Department announced Wednesday that its current web site, www.nsuspartans.com, will re-launch with a new design on Tuesday, Aug. 17.

Since its initial launch on October 27, 2007, www.nsuspartans.com, powered by Sidearm Sports, has received more than 807,000 site visits and more than 4.6 million page views.

“NSUSpartans.Com has been an integral tool in the athletic department's public and media relations strategy,” sports information director Matt Michalec said. “Since we migrated from the university domain to our current site, our web presence has expanded by leaps and bounds. We just felt it was time to give our site a fresh, new look and feel so we can increase the appeal of Spartan athletics via the internet.”

The new web site will also place a higher emphasis on newer media technologies such as the existing features for text message updates, Twitter updates, video streaming and the site's YouTube channel, which debuted in the fall of 2009.

“These features will have a more prominent placement to allow our fans to become more engaged in their web-viewing and electronic media experience,” Michalec added. “We will also post more video content than ever before, with more live video streaming events, more game highlights and more interviews with our athletes and coaches.”

New and improved electronic media guides for all teams will also be available during the academic year. An on-line store, where fans can purchase Spartan merchandise via the web site, will also debut later this fall.

Web site visitors may notice that parts of the current nsuspartans.com site may not be updated over the next two weeks as the new design is finalized and the current site's material is moved to the new site.
