Ed Moran Breaks Meet Record on Final Day of Duke Invitational

Three-Time All-American Wins 3,000m

DURHAM, NC - Three-time All-American Ed Moran (Dayton, NJ) clocked a meet record to win the 3,000m as two-time defending CAA Champion William and Mary men's track and field competed Saturday on the final day of the Duke Invitational. With its strongest field ever, the Duke Invitational included a wealth of regional rivals from the ACC, Big East and CAA.

Moran led a one-two Tribe finish in the 3,000m by clocking a blistering 8:06.13, some ten seconds better than the previous meet record, for the win. It was also a personal record for the graduate student by some four seconds. Fellow All-American Christo Landry (Falls Church, VA) also impressed by finishing just a few tenths behind his teammate, as the freshman timed a sterling 8:06.71, half a minute better than his previous career fast time. In the seeded 800m, sophomore Matt Warco (McMurray, PA) timed a solid 1:53.80, just a second off the IC4A standard, while senior Bill Tarantino (Woodbridge, VA) timed a 1:56.91 in the same race. In the developmental 800m, junior Matt Wolak (Richmond, VA) timed a 1:55.12, his best effort of the season. The Tribe's 4x800m relay claimed sixth on the day with a 7:47.80, four seconds off an IC4A qualification.

Tribe track and field returns to action at the UVA Lou Onesty/Milton Abramson Invitational April 15-16.
