Singleton Continues Hot Streak at Morgan State

BALTIMORE, Md. — Norfolk State senior Donald Singleton (Syracuse, N.Y.) continued his strong outdoor season by running a personal-best time in the 400 meters for the second time this spring, winning in a time of 46.99 seconds on Saturday at the Morgan State Legacy Track Meet at Hughes Stadium.

Singleton had already qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Regionals in the 400 with his previous personal best of 47.26 seconds at the Aggie Relays on March 26.

Teammate Marques Sneed (Baltimore, Md.) finished third in the 400 in a time of 47.75.

NSU's other first-place finish came via Michael Adams (Chesapeake, Va.) in the pole vault. He cleared an outdoor season best of 3.65 meters. Chris Walker (Norfolk, Va.) also posted outdoor season bests, in both the long jump and triple jump. He took second in both events at Morgan State.

Marlon Powells (Hyattsville, Md.) also earned a second-place finish, with a throw of 14.25 meters in the shot put. The 4x400 relay team of Singleton, Jamall Broomfield (Long Beach, Calif.) Sneed and Jade Smith (Camden, N.J.) also ran the best time for a 1,600-meter relay team from NSU this outdoor season, coming in second place in 3:13.90, just .05 behind winner Coppin State.

The Spartan men have this week off before competing in the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Apr. 28-30 at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
