With the entry deadline a week away, early indications are that the newest edition of the Southern Track Classic will be equal to the first five. Over 40 schools have submitted entries while many others have verbally indicated their intentions. On the boys side, out of state relay powers highlight the early entries. DeMatha Catholic of Hyattsville, Maryland brings in their All-American 4X400 quartet from indoors with a very strong 4X100 team to boot. Germantown Academy of the Philadelphia suburbs will tool into Richmond with a Nike Indoor National 4X800 runner-up team. Taco Bell 3200 meter champion Steve Duplinsky of Georgetown Prep. will move down to the mile for The Classic.

Arcadia claimed to have the "Deepest" Girls 800 field in history. The Classic could arguably have the "BEST" field in history based on early entries and verbal indications. Already in are Devon Williams of Towson, Maryland (2004 National Indoor Athlete of the Year); Katie Doswell, St. Catherine's (#2 U.S. All-Time 1000) and Tameka Jameson of Eleanor Roosevelt (Greenbelt, Maryland) all have clocked 2:12 or better. That leaves at least six other Virginians capable of breaking 2:15 that have indicated they will run in the meet but have not declared which event. It is easy to project two to four top ten times coming out of that race.

The girls throws will be loaded with Kathy Howard from Lee-Davis facing Single "A" standard bearers Susan Lucas of Giles and Whitney King of Radford. And those are just the early entries!

The Bethel Girls are coming loaded up in the relays with only Mobile Meet of Champions MVP Francena McCorory in two individual events. Should be fun…. Stay Tuned!
