W&M\'s Moran Enters Regionals as Top Seed in the 5,000m

WILLIAMSBURG, VA - William and Mary men's track and field will eye NCAA qualifications as four of its athletes contest the NCAA East Regional May 27-28 in New York, NY. The top five finishers from each Regional event (top three for relays) will receive automatic qualifications to the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, and a yet-undetermined number of at-large berths will also be available after the conclusion of Regional based on the size of the field in each event after automatic qualifiers enter their declarations. Qualification for the NCAAs can only come via a Regional performance in all events, except in the 10,000m and decathlon which continue to use provisional and automatic marks, similar to the indoor season. Athletes could qualify for the Regional field by breaking a Regional standard or winning a conference championship in that event.

Three-time All-American Ed Moran (Dayton, NJ) is primed for another NCAA qualification in the 5,000m as he enters the Regional as the top seed thanks to his personal record 13:39.70. Moran will be going for a hat trick of titles at the distance as he has already claimed the CAA and IC4A 5,000m championships. Joining Moran in the 5,000m field will be All-American Christo Landry (Falls Church, VA) who is seeded into the Regional with a Tribe freshman record 14:01.62, coming at the Cardinal Invitational. Landry finished second to Moran in the 5,000m at CAAs for all-conference honors and is seeded sixth in the field. Junior Sean Anastasia-Murphy (Gloucester, MA) and senior Adam Otstot (Richmond, VA) will both be contesting the 3,000m steeplechase at the Regional. Anastasia-Murphy clocked 8:59.26 in an All-East performance two weeks ago at IC4As for his qualification while Otstot won the CAA Championship in the event for an automatic qualification. Otstot is seeded into the field with his CAA time of 9:12.62 but he has since bettered that mark with a personal best 9:08.57 at IC4As.
