This Week's Nominees:
Kebryl Chandler, Parry McCluer (Virginia): Ran a state-leading 4:11.16 in the 1600 at the ASICS Carolina Distance Carnival, breaking his PR of 4:14.67 set last April. Also posted a big PR in the 3200, clocking 8:54.82 to improve from his 9:06.79 mark set earlier this season at The VA Showcase.
Lamont Mayo, Varina (Virginia): Won both throws at the 2026 Springer Relays, putting up a PR of 62-9 in the shot put to improve from his 61-10 mark set at the AAU Indoor National Championship. Also took first in the discus with a throw of 151-4.5.
Hugo Hamnett, J.R. Tucker High School (Virginia): Clocked a state-leading 4:08.46 in the 1600 at the ASICS Carolina Distance Carnival, a new PR from his 4:10.94 set at the VHSL Class 6 State Indoor Championships in March. The race saw him beat state leader Kebryl Chandler and #4-ranked Cole Boone head-to-head. Also turned in a massive PR in the 800, running 1:52.03 to drop over three seconds from his previous best of 1:55.27.
Joshua-Kai Smith, Gar-Field (Virginia): Posted a meet double at the Gainesville Cardinal Classic, winning the 110m hurdles in 13.66 and taking the 200 in 21.74.
Cole Boone, Pulaski County (Virginia): Put up the week's top 800 time at the ASICS Carolina Distance Carnival, running 1:50.70 for second place and beating state-ranked Hugo Hamnett in the process. Also ran 4:10.27 in the 1600, finishing ahead of state leader Kebryl Chandler.
