Note: Athletes who have been nominated in the past two weeks are not eligible. Previous winners are excluded for the rest of the season.
This Week's Nominees:
Elaina Pierce, Charlottesville (Virginia): Ran a state-leading 4:45.46 in the 1600 at the ASICS Carolina Distance Carnival, breaking her PR of 4:47.50 set in January. Placed 8th in a deep field of 441 runners with the top mark in Virginia this season.
Apria Smith, Chantilly (Virginia): Posted PRs in both the triple jump and 200 at the Northern Virginia Invitational. Won the triple jump with a new best of 42-7, improving from 42-3.75 set in March, and clocked 24.77 in the 200 for third place, breaking her PR of 25.39 from last May.
Imani Moore, Varina (Virginia): Swept three events at the Varina FROSH Invitational with PRs in two of them. Won the long jump at 19-9, breaking her PR of 19-7.5, and captured the 200 in 23.95, improving from 24.22. Also took the 400 in 55.04, dropping nearly 10 seconds from her previous best of 1:04.82.
Kaelen Tucker, Brookville High School (Virginia): Turned in a massive PR of 11.80 to win the 100 at the Blue & Gold HS Track Classic, improving from 12.15 set last April. Also won the 200 in a personal-best 24.83, breaking her previous mark of 25.41.
Olivia Jones, James W. Robinson (Virginia): Won the 400 at the Northern Virginia Invitational in 55.21, a new PR that improved from 56.07 set at Nike Outdoor Nationals last June.
