This Week's Nominees:
Abigail Mesfin, Oakton (Virginia): Turned in a strong distance double at the Dogwood Track Classic, clocking 4:46.47 in the 1600 for 3rd place and 2:13.68 in the 800 for another 3rd-place finish. The top-ranked junior in Virginia in the 1600 also sits 5th among juniors in the 800.
Olivia Jones, James W. Robinson (Virginia): Swept the sprints at the Dogwood Track Classic with times of 11.63 in the 100 and 23.97 in the 200, winning both events. She's the #1 junior in the state in the 100 and ranks 2nd among Virginia juniors in the 200.
Imani Moore, Varina (Virginia): The freshman phenom dominated three events at the Queen Harrison Track Classic Invitational, winning the 200 in 23.73 and the 100 in 11.71 while placing 2nd in the long jump at 19-0.75. Moore leads all Virginia freshmen in all three events this season.
Carter Torrence, Western Albemarle (Virginia): Posted the week's fastest 800 time at Track Night NYC, running 2:07.27 to place 9th in a competitive field of 95.
Sascha Cotton, North Stafford (Virginia): Put together an impressive three-event performance at the Gar-Field Twilight Invitational, winning the long jump at 19-11 and the 400 in 56.87 while taking 2nd in the 200 at 24.33. Her long jump mark topped the week's national competition.
