Ciccarelli, Van Horn Lead Spiders At Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival

John Ciccarelli finished 26th in the men\'s 10K, while Katie Van Horn took 44th in the women\'s 6K.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - In its last meet before the Atlantic 10 Championship, the University of Richmond men\'s and women\'s cross country teams competed at the Arkansas Chili Pepper Festival on Saturday.

Facing several of the top teams in the nation, the Richmond women\'s team finished 14th in the 33-team field, while the men\'s team took 19th out 29 teams.

Richmond senior John Ciccarelli (South Bury, Conn.) finished in 26th out of 241 collegiate runners, completing the 10K in a time of 30:01.9. On the women\'s side, freshman Katie Van Horn (Glendora, N.J.) took 44th out of 299 runners, finishing the 6K in 22:07.2.

Sophomore Kylee Schuler (Chambersburg, Pa.) finished 54th in a time of 22:19.3 and senior Nicole Kurtain (Hamilton, N.J.) took 75th in 22:47.6. Freshman Mary Bertram (Salisbury, N.C.) finished 93rd in 23:07.4 and sophomore Kate Merrill (Durham, N.C.) took 109th in 23:19.2. Sophomore Shelby Faircloth (Centennial, Colo.) placed 135th in 23:47.7 and senior Diana Morse (Harvard, Mass.) was 144th.

On the men\'s side, sophomore Jonathan Molz (East Northport, N.Y.) finished 75th in a time of 31:55.9, while sophomore Hunter Willis (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) was 95th in 32:14.7. Freshman Sean McKinney (Downingtown, Pa.) was 127th in 32:54.4 and sophomore Mike Stubbs (Newington, Conn.) took 159th in 33:59.5.



The Spiders return to action on Oct. 29 at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Philadelphia, Pa.
