Virginia high school track and field athletes posted several personal records during competition the week of May 18.
Reece Hubble (Christiansburg) threw 159-7.5 in the discus at the Blacksburg Quad on May 20, improving from his previous best of 145-1. The senior placed second among 27 competitors and ranks 21st in Virginia and 11th among seniors.
Liliana Sweat (Spotsylvania) ran 2:22.57 in the 800 meters at the Region 4B Outdoor Championship on May 22, lowering her previous mark of 2:27.47. The freshman finished fifth of 34 competitors and ranks 131st in the state and 18th among freshmen.
Baylea Hamilton (Colonial Forge) clocked 25.19 in the 200 meters at the Class 6 Region B Championships on May 20, improving from her previous best of 25.84 set in May. The sophomore placed seventh among 20 competitors and ranks 59th in Virginia and 15th among sophomores.
Anius Slaughter (Pulaski County) threw 162-8.5 in the discus at the Blacksburg Quad on May 20, breaking his previous personal record of 151-8. The junior won the event among 27 competitors, set a Pulaski County school record, and ranks 18th in the state and seventh among juniors.
Johnson Kenneth (Varina) threw 157-11 in the discus at the Region 4B Outdoor Championship on May 22, improving from his previous mark of 148-0. The senior finished third of 34 competitors and ranks 23rd in Virginia and 12th among seniors.
Camille Lichtenstein (W.T. Woodson) ran 10:51.37 in the 3200 meters at the Patriot District Championship on May 20, lowering her previous best of 11:08.00. The senior placed sixth among 20 competitors and ranks 23rd in the state and eighth among seniors. Lichtenstein also set a personal record in the 1600 meters, running 5:04.56 to improve from her previous mark of 5:06.57.
London Irving (Atlee) ran 12.22 in the 100 meters at the Region 4B Outdoor Championship on May 22, improving from her previous best of 12.51. The sophomore finished second among 31 competitors and ranks 47th in Virginia and 10th among sophomores.
