The wait is over! XC is finally back in Virginia and this past weekend we got our first glimpse into what the season could look like.
Girls Varsity Race
The race began solid with quite a few athletes vying for the lead. By the halfway point though, Westfield senior Brianna Pritchard had taken a slight lead. She would ultimately hold onto that lead with a strong-late push from some other athletes.
One of the biggest takeaways though was Briar Woods' team finish. They ran away with the title scoring just 70 points and were led by a freshman! If they are able to solidify a good fifth runner, we think they could be one of the best teams in the state.
Boys Varsity Race
This one was exciting! We got to see our preseason VA #3 runner in Gavin Daniels and VA #6 Preston Spangler battle it out. Both looked smooth and comfortable throughout with Daniels ultimately taking home the title.
On the team front, it was our preseason #3 team, Albemarle opening up their season with a win. They scored an impressive 60 points way ahead of second place's 147.
