MileStat.com was on-site with both Brandon Miles and John Herzog for the VISAA Track & Field Championships held at Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond, Virginia. No surprise in team championships being awarded to the Fork Union boys and St. Catherine\'s girls. St. Catherine\'s was led by senior Katie Doswell in her final high school meet with her team as she posted times of 5:01 in the 1600 meter run and 2:13 in 800 meter run. Doswell also took the handoff from 7th grade sister Cabell on the 4x400 meter relay in a fitting end to Doswell\'s official high school career for St. Catherine\'s (Note: Doswell will be competing post-season at the MileStat Gala and Nike Outdoor Nationals). Expect plenty of photos as well as video to come from the meet over the next few days. Complete results now posted and meet summary on the way!.

The Fork Union boys continued their amazing streak of 19 straight VISAA Track and Field Championship titles. None of the athletes in the 2006 meet were born when the run of state titles first started as their 19th win was an impressive one. Fork Union finished with more than twice the amount of points of second place Woodberry Forest (78 pts) with 166.50 points. The duo of Brandon Caleb and Axel Mostrag led FUMA.

Caleb won both the 110 (14.55) and 300 (40.20) meter hurdles, while also posting the top marks in the long jump (23\'1.50\") and triple jump. Caleb broke the meet record with his 47\'7\" mark in the triple jump and his 110 meter hurdle time was a personal best as he gave

Meanwhile, Mostrag won comfortably in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:28.02 as Polish pal Szymon Rolla finished second in 4:30.52. Mostrag then came back to lead a top three sweep for Fork Union in the 800 meter run with a fine time of 1:55.62. amie Reichlen finished second to teammate Mostrag in second at 1:57.73 and Rolla took third. The three teammates were also members of the winning Fork Union 4x400 meter relay (3:29.01).

One of the top performances in the meet came in throws with Greenbrier Christian Academy senior Trevor Bray throwing for a personal best mark of 56 feet to win the shot put competition by a dominant margin of nearly five feet.

Collegiate\'s Matthew Richardson blazed his final lap to seize the lead and win from Fork Union\'s Jonathan Buckland (9:59.90) in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:52.89.

Blue Ridge School\'s Tony Lewis was a double winner in the sprints with clockings of 11.17 and 22.21 in the 100 and 200 meter dashes respectively.

Bishop Sullivan\'s Ryan Edlich tied his personal best height of 6\'6\" to win the high jump competition by two inches over Jonathan Foote of Fork Union (6\'4\").

Only one inch separated the two boys in the discus throw with Chris White of Benedictine (136\'3\") barely topping Clarke Miller of St. Christopher\'s (136\'2\") in the event.

The St. Catherine\'s girls have an impressive streak of state titles that they have built over the past five years. Norfolk Academy in 2001 was the last time that St. Catherine\'s did not win the VISAA title. It was a special day for several St. Catherine\'s seniors that have played big roles in that title run. Duke bound Katie Doswell took wins in both the 1600 and 800 meter run as she was given an honest challenge in both races from former state champion Michaeline Nelson of The Potomac School. Doswell broke two meet records with a 5:01.72 time in the 1600 meter run and finishing at 2:13.62. In a special and fitting moment for the St. Catherine\'s senior, she received the baton on anchor leg in the 4x400 meter relay from seventh grade sister Cabell.

Doswell was not the only St. Catherine\'s senior going out with a bang. Casey Jordan had a sensational meet in the hurdles with two wins in the 100 (16.21) and 300 (47.84) meter hurdles. Jordan was also a trooper tripling and finishing third in the 200 meter dash (26.21).

Winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.01 was The Potomac School junior Samantha Adelberg. She also won the 400 meter dash earlier in a personal best time of 58.01. Adelburg and VISAA runner-up in the 1600 and 800 meter races to Doswell, Michaeline Nelson (5:16/2:23) teamed up in the 4x400 meter relay for The Potomac School to help give them a 4:07.48 win as they also finished second as a team behind St. Catherine\'s.

The Potomac School also took the top two places in the shot put with Morgan Watts (37\'2\") and Taytra Todd (34\'9\").

VMI bound Zipporah McCann of Greebrier Christian had two big marks in the long jump and triple jump to allow her to retain her state titles with personal best marks of 18\'2.25\" and 36\'7.25\" respectively.

St. Catherine\'s sophomore Virginia Ginn won her third consecutive state title in the high jump as she matched her previous best height of 5\'4\". Ginn won her first state title two years ago as an eighth grader at 5\'4\" as well.

Carrie Wortham pulled off an unusual pair of state titles in a 10\'6\" clearance in the pole vault and 12:06.58 win in the 3200 meter run. The St. Catherine\'s junior cleared a personal best for the pole vault at the VISAA Championships.
