With only mere hours separated us from the penultimate meet, the VHSL State Cross Country Championships, it is time to look and preview each classification. Inside is a breif preview of the classification and the leaderboards for the top 50 individuals in the classification.
In this classification we are going to see some of the best talent in the entire state and country. The girls race as will be the rematch of the century between Libby Davidson and Weini Kelati who are hands down the best girls in the entire state. Both of these girls lived up to their billings last week at the regional but this week with less hills things should not only be faster but also much closer. Team wise, Erin Saunders and her Jefferson Forest teammates will look to make quick work of their competition and add a state team title to their trophy case for the season. They could very well also be one of the best teams in the entire state too regardless of classification.
On the boys side we are going to see another team that is one of the best in the entire state with the Midlothian Trojans who have been running under the radar for much of the season. Their top three of Randy Hahn, Collin Hahn, and Evan Benjamin may not only lead them to a team title but very well may lead them to top three sweep. The only two guys standing in their way of doing this is 4A leader and VA #6 Peter Seufer (E.C. Glass-15:30), and VA #12 Tyler Cox-Philyaw (Millbrook-15:37). Both of these guys have been running very well all season and visibly peaking at the right time, they will have their work cut out for them though as we can safely assume Midlothian will be ready to race this Saturday.
