The VISAA State Championships are just a few days away. This year the meet will be run on the decently quick Pole Green Park lower course, the one that goes in the woods. With fields not too large this could mean some fast times are ahead now that the weather is cooperating with us.
The girls from Veritas are back and ready to take back the title this week. Defending champions Trinity Christian though are joined by quite a few other schools who are also in the hunt. Right now though it looks like Veritas are the heavy team favorites with the strongest five on paper.
Individually Hope Frost is the defending champion with last year's runner-up and 2017 state champion, Ella Dalton also returning this year. They are joined by two eight graders who could be the first to win a title in middle school since Morgan Lewis achieved that in 2013.
Those two 8th graders are Reese Dalton and Ellie Goldberg. Lana O'Flynn and Kerstin Fagerstrom also enter the meet with sub 20 minute performances.
If all goes to plan this is really Hope's race to win or lose and the way she has been running this season makes us very confident in her Thursday as well. She will have to put together a strong performance though with this tough competition and that is why you gotta run the race.
