Virginia Tech\'s Spyridon Jullien broke the Atlantic Coast Conference hammer throw overall record at the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday which was held at the Irwin Belk Track & Field facility. Jullien (Jr., Athens, Greece) threw the hammer in an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 228\'9\" (69.73m) to break the four-year conference overall record by more than 20 feet at the Charlotte Invitational this past weekend. The previous hammer throw ACC record of 208\'1\" (63.42m) was set by Isaiah Oglesby (NC State) in 2001.

He is also the first NCAA champion for the Hokie track & field program. Jullien, the USTCA Indoor Southeast Region Men\'s Athlete of the Year, capped off an amazing indoor season today by winning the men\'s 35 lb. weight throw NCAA title with his throw of 76\'0.75\" (23.18m), which was close to four feet farther than his competitors, at his third NCAA indoor championships. With his win, Jullien earned 10 points for the men\'s team and his fourth All-American honor.
