Albemarle Invitational 2012

Saturday’s 29th running of the Albemarle Invitational will once again feature many of the state’s best as over 1,000 runners descend on the picturesque 5K course at Panorama Farms.  This year’s edition is perhaps the deepest in meet history, as a staggering four of the state’s top five teams will compete for the girl’s title, while the boy’s race features five of the state’s top fifteen teams.  

  Four of the top 8 girls teams in Virginia were present on Saturday at the Albemarle Invitational with VA #2 Oakton, VA #4 Osbourn Park, VA #5 Battlefield, VA #6 Colonial Forge, and VA #8 Maggie Walker. The Oakton girls were big winners with a team score of 66 points. Their top runner Allie Klimkiewicz ended up in a duel with defending Group A state champion Hannah Rose of Wilson Memorial.
